We all want to eat better - more energy, fewer crashes, meals that leave us feeling good instead of sluggish. But let’s be honest: nutrition advice can get overwhelming. One minute you’re told to cut carbs, the next it’s all about superfoods you can barely pronounce, let alone find in the supermarket. No wonder so many of us throw our hands up and go back to what’s easy.
But here’s the truth: supporting your nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes the most powerful changes come from the smallest, simplest swaps.
The human brain loves routine. If you try to overhaul your whole diet in one go, your brain rebels - it’s too much change all at once. But swap just one thing? That’s doable. It doesn’t feel like a huge sacrifice, and once it becomes normal, you’ve created a new habit without much effort.
The beauty of swaps is that they’re not about restriction. They’re about adding more of the good stuff while gently phasing out the things that don’t serve you. Over time, those little shifts add up to a big difference in how you feel day to day.
Here are a few small but mighty swaps you could start with:
Swap fizzy drinks for sparkling water with lemon. You’ll still get the fizz, but without the sugar crash.
Swap white bread for wholegrain. A simple fibre boost that keeps you fuller for longer.
Swap crisps for nuts or seeds. Same crunch, more nutrients and healthy fats.
Swap flavoured yoghurt for plain with fruit. You cut down on added sugar and get natural sweetness instead.
Swap a takeaway for a quick home-cooked “cheat meal.” A 10-minute stir fry with frozen veggies beats waiting for delivery (and leaves you with leftovers for lunch).
The key is to pick one swap, not all of them. Make it your new normal, then build from there.
One of the simplest nutrition hacks is to add colour. Instead of focusing on what you “can’t have,” ask yourself: how can I add more plants to this meal?
Toss spinach into your morning smoothie.
Add cucumber slices to your water.
Throw an extra carrot on the roasting tray.
Top pasta with a handful of rocket or cherry tomatoes.
Every colour represents different nutrients, and the more variety you get, the more support you’re giving your body.
Even with the best intentions, life gets in the way. Some days you’re juggling work, kids, and 101 things on your to-do list, and dinner ends up being beans on toast. That’s real life.
And honestly? It’s nearly impossible to get every nutrient your body needs from food alone. Research shows most people are low in key vitamins and minerals, not because they don’t care about health, but because modern diets and busy lives make it tough.
That’s why it helps to have a backup plan.
This is where VMG+ comes in. Instead of trying to remember five different supplements, VMG+ gives you vitamins, minerals, greens, probiotics, and digestive enzymes — all in one simple daily sachet. Think of it as your nutrition safety net.
It doesn’t replace healthy eating, but it fills the gaps on the days when you’re not getting everything in. Paired with those small swaps on your plate, it’s an easy way to know you’re covering your bases without stress.
Here’s your challenge for this week:
Pick one simple swap from the list above. Commit to it for 7 days.
Notice how your energy feels.
If you like the change, keep it. Then add another swap.
This approach is slow and steady — but it’s also realistic. And realistic habits are the ones that last.
